WORKSHOPS

KNOWING THE BODY AND MAKING IT EXPRESSIVE by Ana Rokvić- Pinterić

The workshop aims to introduce different body-based techniques, deriving from Applied Drama and Theatre of the oppressed approaches. Apart from getting to know the basics of using body in dramatic expression, participants will stress and try to overcom their own taboos, obstacles and sterotypes on human body and its cultural & social meaning.

She is a founder of Grad Teater, a group organizing Le Soleil, a festival of theatre, music and dance. In 2008, she prepared a performance "Mehki ć" in cooperation with Jemo zenf Theatre group.

WOMANHOOD, MYTHS AND REALITIES by Nena Močnik

Participants will question and ciritize the cultural construction of woman- and/or manhood, our gender-based social roles and influences that they have on people's ordinary lives. The focus will be in radicalization of our gender roles in the political conflict and wars, in terms of radical sexual violence and rape. The aim of workshop is to break the established gender narratives and create new ones. The outcome will be presented in the final performance on March 8th.

OPENING LECTURE:

ANCIENT THEATRE, SHADOW THEATRE & FEMINISM

by dr. Svetlana Slapšak

Friday, March 1st 2013
Azil Bookshop, Novi trg 2, 1000 Ljubljana

ON SPEECH:
"I became feminist after reading a seminal study on feminist reading of Ancient Drama by Froma Zeitlin in 1986. Since then my writing about the theatre, my theatre writing and my activim are closely related. Recently I had a chance to create the first group for the shadow theatre (Greek Karadjozis type) in Slovenia, and wrote texts for several performances (the first being about a famous Greek singer, resistant and lesbian Sotiria Belou), the new performative context allowed me to explore a new feminist space and notions."
